A message from our new Chair, Joe Blott

“As confirmed at the Spirit of Shankly AGM in March, the chair Jay McKenna is standing down.

“On behalf of the management committee and wider membership, I would like to pay tribute to Jay and express our gratitude for all his work and dedication to the union since it began more than a decade ago. We will miss his input on a day-to-day basis, but know he will continue to back SOS in all we do.

“I am proud and humbled that my fellow committee members have elected me as his successor as chair, and grateful they will be alongside me to provide passion, support and energy. SOS boast a dynasty of strong leaders and I intend to honour that by continuing to work for our members and all Liverpool supporters.

“We have many achievements to celebrate as a union, but it is important we look forward.

“Some key challenges and objectives were set out at our AGM: fairer ticket pricing, improved LFC/supporter liaison, review of banning and sanctions, standing up to racism, supporting those suffering with mental ill health and supporting the Anfield community.

“We will do all we can to deliver on them.

“We will also continue to campaign for fairer ticket access and allocation, improvements to travel for games disrupted by TV scheduling and working with other clubs’ supporters to challenge and hold the game’s authorities to account.

“The future is bright for LFC on the pitch, it is my intention to ensure it is equally positive for our supporters off it.

“Thank you.”
