Derby Segregation

As both Liverpool and Everton are gearing up for the FA Cup game on Sunday, supporters of both clubs have learned of the planned segregation outside of Anfield in the run-up to kick-off. Spirit of Shankly are totally opposed to this.

There has been no consultation with SOS or Blue Union, despite both fan organisations asking to be involved in any planning prior to the fixture. The decision, reached by LFC, EFC and Merseyside Police will, we believe, make little difference to the control of fans.

The closure of the Fan Park to home supporters and forced relocation of the Foodbank van show a clear lack of foresight into the impact of this decision on all those attending the game.

SOS are unaware of such arrangements having been made for past FA Cup games. Sunday’s course seems likely to set an unwelcome precedent for future ties and we ask clubs, and police to reconsider.
