Priority ticket scheme

The Spirit of Shankly (SOS) recently met with Ian Ayre to question him on a number of wide ranging issues. We will be reporting back to members about this shortly. The question of the price of next season’s Priority Ticket Scheme (PTS) was raised by the SOS and Mr. Ayre indicated that there was likely to be an announcement this week but that he was unwilling to go into any detail with the SOS as he wanted PTS members to be made aware of the proposals first.

However, the Union did hear from Mr. Ayre overnight with some background to the decision that has been made which is based upon an analysis the Club carried out of the PTS for the 2008/09 season. This showed the following:

  • There were 5000 tickets that go to the 10000 PTS members.
  • PTS members pay £ 55.00 per year
  • Over 25% of people who are PTS members bought zero tickets last season
  • About 50% of the PTS members have been to less than 3 games

The Club have taken the view that many people on the PTS are getting an unfair level of access to tickets in advance of people like the season ticket waiting list and other fans

The LFC Membership (“Belong”) now has 50,000 members of which 7,000 are junior members. Therefore the Club have decided to close the PTS, allowing all PTS members to join the LFC Membership scheme.  This will cost PTS members £ 29.00 instead of £ 55.00 and the 5,000 tickets that were previously in the PTS will be made available to all members in a “members sale” for each game.

The Club’s attitude is that this will mean more “general” fans will be getting more access to more tickets.  We are told they intend to earmark 1,000 of the 5,000 tickets as adult/child tickets to be available to adult and junior members. This will increase the clubs adult child allocation by 200%.

Clearly we have members that are also Priority Ticket Scheme members as well – we will also have members who are not. We would ask for feedback generally as to your views in relation to this change so we can represent the majority view of Union members.

Please email [email protected] heading your email “PTS”.

For information purposes the Club’s communication to PTS members is as follows:

PTS SCHEME CLOSURE

As a valued supporter we are writing to inform you of some important changes to the Club’s Priority Ticketing Scheme Membership.

Over the past few months, the club have been reviewing its membership and ticketing schemes. This Review and consultation has involved talking to supporters and understanding the issues that fans face when trying to apply for tickets.

The PTS scheme has run in its current format for a number of years and over the past couple of seasons, we have seen a significant drop in the number of PTS members applying for tickets. At the same time, we have seen a large increase in the number of supporters joining the Official Membership Scheme.

The Club believes the time has come to combine the PTS and the general membership into one scheme, and offer a ticketing benefit to all members. This means that the PTS in its current format will cease to exist and all PTS members will be incorporated into the Official Membership Scheme.

You will still be able to enjoy ticket access for 09/10 season but at a reduced rate of £29 through the Official Membership, almost half the cost of the current PTS scheme. Tickets will go on sale to all members in advance of the general public, maintaining an exclusive access to tickets for all members. The Official Membership will also include a whole host of exciting benefits, giving members even more value for money.

We will be in touch with you in July, when the new scheme launches, with ways in which you can join.

Should you have any questions, please contact Customer Services 0844 844 2005 or email [email protected], where a member of staff will gladly assist you.

Thank you for your continued loyalty and support.

Yours Sincerely

Ian Ayre
