Following on from the news item below, we have had a message of thanks from Jonjo’s family which they have asked us to pass onto supporters.

Can you please please thank the Liverpool fans for their support.  We had lads at the statue and lots of people commented about the reception they gave Jonjo at the ground.  He was glad to have had the opportunity to go to the away end as he was going to signal to them somehow and thank them.

The actual amount is £20,237 – so he has more than doubled his target.  The Liverpool fans were superb and must have contributed at least £1500 of the amount if not more.  The little girl who was the Liverpool mascot stayed at our hotel and walked the last day with us.  Will send you a couple of pics.  I cant post on the forum but would really appreciate it if you did for Jonjo.  Thank you so much for helping him – will never forget the good wishes received from LFC.

Ahead of the forthcoming West Ham v Liverpool match, a young West Ham supporter will be raising funds for The Bobby Moore Fund. Details of his efforts and reasons can be found below:

My name is Jonjo and I am 9 years old. I am a West Ham season ticket holder in the West Lower. I am walking 23 miles from Wembley to West Ham Utds centre circle over 3 days. My walk starts of 25th Feb at Wembley and finishes on the centre circle before kick off against Liverpool on 27th Feb. I am raising £10,000 for The Bobby Moore Fund.

The last day of my walk is from Stratford Park, West Ham Lane to The Bobby Moore Statue where I will lay a wreath for my Nanny and Bobby Moore because they both died from bowel cancer. Then I will walk on the pitch and finish.

If you want to walk with me on the last day meet me at the park at 10am. There will be press and we want to sing loud for Bobby and my Nanny all the way. The Pearly Kings and Queens are coming too and the Mayor of Newham. There might be some other surprise people attending. Please walk with me if you can. We will be at the statue at midday.
