New Charter to Tackle Tragedy Chanting

Time to end the abuse Spirit of Shankly are pleased to share the news that English football authorities have collectively launched a new charter that includes fan behaviour and significantly tragedy chanting. Starting with the coming season, measures are to be introduced that will result in people, who are found to have committed [...]

Fans to have a voice at UEFA

FSE to sit on UEFA Committees Spirit of Shankly welcome the recent news that supporters are, for the first time, to be integrated formally into UEFA’s governance structure. In short, football fans will now have a voice within the European governing body. This follows years of SOS and other supporters' trusts advocating for fans to have a say in how the game is governed, a necessity highlighted after events in Paris at the Champions League final in 2022 and again in Istanbul in 2023. FSE, as the democratic voice of European football fans, will now [...]

Anniversary of fans uniting against ticket prices

Anniversary of fans uniting against ticket prices Today marks the 10th anniversary of football fans putting their differences aside and uniting to march on the Premier League headquarters in protest at the rising cost of away tickets. It was the culmination of an ongoing campaign to make the authorities listen as away-supporter ticket prices had spiralled – at that [...]

Message from SOS Chair Joe Blott Dear Colleagues I am writing to inform you that I am standing aside as Chair of Spirit of Shankly with effect from 06.06.2023, though I will remain on the Management Committee. A tribute to Dan Kay

A tribute to Dan Kay We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Dan Kay and send our sympathies to his family and friends. Dan was a tireless campaigner for social justice and those in need, and will forever be remembered for his work fighting for the families and survivors of Hillsborough. A committed journalist and constant support to those affected, he covered the 2014 - 2016 warrington inquests that concluded all those who died on 15 April 1989 were unlawfully killed, reporting live for the Liverpool Echo. He co-wrote, with the late [...]
