LFC to Trial Rail Seating Spirit of Shankly welcome the news from Liverpool FC today that they are to trial the introduction of rail seating at Anfield this coming season. There will be a total of 7,800 places –1,800 in the Kop and 6,000 in the Lower Anfield Road Stand – in this initial run. Further details of how these will be incorporated and the implications on those who have seats in these areas is to come. A decision was taken, at our AGM in September 2016, that SOS should begin discussions around the prospect of rail [...]
SOS reaffirm stance on rail seating debate Following a survey we organised in July 2017, our members and supporters voted overwhelmingly in favour of rail seating being introduced at stadiums across the country. They also backed supporters having the choice to sit or stand. Spirit of Shankly believe every club and their fans should be able to choose the model for their home stadium and work with the relevant authorities to meet prerequisite safety requirements. Spirit of Shankly welcome the government announcement today, 5 June, that they plan to review the law concerning safe standing at top-flight football matches.

The vote following our rail seating consultation and public meeting has now concluded.
We will host a final public meeting ahead of a vote to decide our position on rail seating, taking place on Saturday 22nd July in The Liner Hotel, Lord Nelson Street, Liverpool, L3 5QB.
Earlier this year we published an updated timetable for making a decision on our position on rail seating. Unfortunately this was delayed, due to securing a venue and speakers for the meeting. However we are pleased to announce confirmed dates for upcoming meetings, so that we can move the debate forward and arrive at a decision.
