Spirit of Shankly can today confirm that a total of £59,104 has been raised for the Sean Cox appeal.
The generosity of supporters at last weekend’s Cardiff fixture at Anfield raised £28,725.17 which was collected around the ground by volunteers from SOS and LFC.
The LFC Foundation, official charity of Liverpool Football Club, has also match funded the amount raised as well as donating proceeds of £1653.75 from the matchday fundraising lottery held at the game – taking the overall total to £59,104.
We would again like to thank everyone who made this possible. We appreciate that arranging such a collection is unique and presents challenges. However, LFC and Foundation staff who have facilitated and supported the collection have been a credit to the club.
To all those who spent their Saturday afternoon collecting for Sean and to those who donated, you have shown Sean and his family that they will not walk alone.
We understand that LFC officials remain in dialogue with the Cox family regarding initiatives to support them.
