The Football Supporters Federation (FSF) are asking all their affiliate organisations, of which the Spirit of Shankly is one, to help them collate evidence of incidents of public order policing at football matches. The FSF are compiling a dossier of these methods used at football grounds and beyond: city centres, pubs, motorways, train stations etc.
The Spirit of Shankly would like to lend their full support to fellow Reds of the New York Liverpool Supporters Club who have publicly condemned the British-born, U.S. Radio Host, Steve Cohen, who appears on Fox Football Phone In and on World Soccer Daily on Sirius.
Spirit of Shankly welcomes today’s news that the club is to freeze season ticket prices for 2009/10. We believe that this is in no small part down to the dialogue we have had with senior club officials in recent months. It is also an encouraging first step by Commercial Director Ian Ayre since taking responsibility for ticketing at the club and SOS will seek to discuss other match day and travel issues with him in the next few weeks.
20 years ago, 96 men, women and children went to a football match and never returned. In memory of those who lost their lives on that tragic day, the bereaved families, and those who endure the painful memories of that day, music stars from across the city, along with some Liverpool legends, have come together to release a single in their honour.
Following enquiries from a number of members, the SOS Management Committee has discussed what, if any, role the organisation should play in marking the 20th Anniversary of the Hillsborough Disaster.
A message from the people behind "The Hillsborough Football Disaster: Context and Consequences"
Spirit Of Shankly welcomes Rafael Benitez agreeing to a new four year contract at Liverpool FC. It would appear that the manager has received the necessary reassurances allowing him to do his job, and the position of manager is finally being properly recognised to ensure stability with on the pitch matters.
Spirit of Shankly welcomes the news of Rick Parry's imminent departure from Liverpool FC. Although Rick has worked to build bridges with fans over the last year, the sad fact is his handling of the Athens ticket fiasco, the sale of the family silver to the tragicomically inept Americans and his part in the ongoing civil war at the club meant his position has been untenable for some time.
A charity match is to be held on 29th March at Flinders Street (off Vauxhall Road) between the Britannia Old Boys and LFC Legends in memory of Bobby Wilcox.
