NO TO MULTI-YEAR TICKET PRICE INCREASES: NEXT STEPS v CRYSTAL PALACE AND MORE

NO TO MULTI-YEAR TICKET PRICE INCREASES: NEXT STEPS PROTEST v CRYSTAL PALACE: SHOW FSG THE YELLOW CARD  On Saturday we are asking every supporter to "Show FSG The Yellow Card" over the decision to make Liverpool FC the first club to lock in THREE YEARS of price rises.  Not only is this a tone-deaf and worrying decision in terms of the price of tickets, it is also closing down the conversation with supporters, and ending yearly accountability and scrutiny through the Liverpool Supporters' Board. We have already seen the withdrawal of flags and banners from [...]

Liverpool FC Are Leading The Way In Pricing Out Loyal Fans For Years To Come

Liverpool FC Are Leading The Way In Pricing Out Loyal Fans For Years To Come LIVERPOOL FC’s owners have shown a blatant disregard for supporters and are now leading the way in pricing out loyal fans for years to come – despite the club turning over a record £703million. Spirit of Shankly believes that should anger every Anfield match-goer who cares about the future of the club. Why? Because: No other Premier League club is baking in three years of price rises No other club has effectively shut down meaningful annual debate [...]

Spirit Of Shankly: The Noise That Won’t Be Silenced

Spirit Of Shankly: The Noise That Won't Be Silenced   By Jay McKenna The Sandon Pub is a well-known feature in the history of Liverpool Football Club. Without the events of 1892, there is no modern-day Liverpool FC as we know it, and all that we’ve heard and witnessed in between.  That very same pub was the location of another meeting 18 years ago, without which the recent history of the club would have been very different.  Those who can recall – or who may have blocked from their memory the events of late 2007 [...]

Galatasaray v Liverpool FC

Galatasaray v Liverpool FC Spirit of Shankly have met repeatedly with Liverpool FC to raise serious concerns about the conditions being imposed on supporters in Istanbul. The club have pressed hard on our behalf, but have been ignored. We remain deeply disappointed that, in 2025, fans are still being forced onto buses without toilets, told to surrender everyday items such as power banks, iPods and headphones despite digital-only tickets, and left without absolute clarity on medical exemptions for vital equipment such as inhalers or diabetic supplies. Supporters are understandably concerned. This is not unique to [...]

SOS Members Join Camino Walk for Prostate Cancer Awareness

SOS Members Join Camino Walk for Prostate Cancer Awareness Last September, SOS Management Committee member Ian Byrne and former MC members Stephen Monaghan, Kieth Culvin and John Nicolson joined lifelong Liverpool supporter Brian Omar to walk 125km of the Camino de Santiago, raising money for prostate cancer support. Sadly, Brian passed away later in the year. This week Ian, Stephen, John and 25 others have returned to Spain to walk the final stage in Brian’s memory, again highlighting the importance of men looking after their health and wellbeing. Brian was part of Lads at Larks, [...]

Keep the Promise: Pass the Full Hillsborough Law

Keep the Promise: Pass the Full Hillsborough Law Spirit of Shankly stands with our Management Committee member and Liverpool West Derby MP Ian Byrne in calling on Prime Minister Keir Starmer to honour his pledge and pass the full Hillsborough Law — not a watered-down version. Drafted by Hillsborough lawyers and backed by families and survivors, the Bill would: Place a legal duty of candour on public servants after state-related disasters. Provide independent legal funding for victims. Starmer promised in 2022, and again in Liverpool in 2024, that passing the Bill would be one of [...]

Concerns over Iain Dale event at Labour Party Conference, Liverpool

Concerns over Iain Dale event at Labour Party Conference, Liverpool THIS week, our chair Paul Khan has written to Keir Starmer and Merseyside MPs with concerns over an advertised event at the Labour Party Conference, which will held in Liverpool from Sunday 28 September to Wednesday 1 October. Dear Prime Minister, I write on behalf of Spirit of Shankly to express deep concern regarding the planned appearance and book signing by Iain Dale at the Labour Party Conference in Liverpool next month. Iain Dale’s presence in this city, and at a Labour event, is completely [...]

Newcastle United v Liverpool – “And It’s Live!” – But What About Life?

Newcastle United v Liverpool – “And It’s Live!” – But What About Life? NEW season. Fresh start. Same treatment. TV comes first. Fans come last. Fixtures are moved with no thought, no care and no accountability — and it keeps happening. Liverpool’s trip to Newcastle United, originally scheduled for Saturday 23 August at 3pm, has been moved to Bank Holiday Monday at 8pm for Sky Sports. That’s a 350-mile round trip on a weeknight with no train home. Travelling supporters will be left with limited options: a late-night drive, an overnight stay, or a coach trip returning [...]

Liverpool Supporters’ Board: Our View On The LFC Ticketing Survey – Have Your Say

Liverpool Supporters' Board: Our View On The LFC Ticketing Survey – Have Your Say Liverpool FC have launched a wide-ranging survey on ticketing. As your Supporters’ Board, we have had some initial discussions with the club about this and pressed them to ensure there is public discourse on proposed changes and an explanation of what is taking place.  Many of the issues raised in the survey are ones that we know fans talk about every week: loyalty, access, fairness, affordability. We know supporters will look at some of the questions and it will fuel speculation [...]
