FSG announcement

Sale of stake in club TODAY'S announcement that brings to an end the speculation of recent weeks and confirms the sale of a minority stake in LFC will have raised many questions for supporters. Much has been written and said of the individuals who make up the buying consortium, 1892 Holdings, which for Spirit of Shankly means that, alongside the formal due diligence required by the Premier League, we have reached out to the Independent Football Regulator to follow the next steps. We will also be speaking to our members and the wider supporter base [...]

Potential sale of stake in LFC

Letter to the club Following initial reports of a potential sale of a stake in LFC, Spirit of Shankly wrote to the club at the end of July seeking further information and greater clarity of what it would mean should a sale go ahead. We asked: When is the ownership expecting to conclude a potential sale? What will the purchasers get in return – board seats, level of involvement in the control of the club on and off the pitch, dividends or other financial returns? Is this part of a planned wider sale, or a [...]

Between The Lines

Unistar Drama Performance Earlier this month, at the Liverpool Lighthouse, a group of young people gave a compelling, emotive performance of Between The Lines – a play exploring the importance of connection, support and belonging. A community project, organised by Unistar Youth Theatre, supported by Spirit of Shankly and Evolve Youth Theatre, it also involved youngsters from North Liverpool Academy and An Hour for Others. Unistar worked with the groups of young people devising performances about county lines, knife crime, belonging and factors that affect crime and violence. And the importance of community. It was [...]

Shankly’s spirit lives on

Brilliant day at Shankly Cup Congratulations to On The Ball Acadamy, winners of the 2026 Shankly Cup The Glasgow side beat last-year's winners, the Steven Gerrard Academy, 1-0 in a tightly fought final that capped a brilliant day. This year's event saw youth teams from Liverpool, Ayrshire, Glasgow, Wrexham and Dublin come together to play a tournament that celebrates Bill Shankly and upholds his principles and values of teamwork, humility, passion and community. And two former Liverpool FC players were on hand to hand out the trophy: Gordon Wallace, who played under Shanks, and two-time [...]

The now annual youth football tournament, sponsored by Spirit of Shankly, continues to grow following the success of previous events. Multi-year increases scrapped

Ticket-price update We welcome the decision that Liverpool FC will no longer proceed with its previously announced three-year ticket-pricing model. Following supporter protests, at a locked-in multi-year deal, and conversations with the Supporters’ Board over the past few days, the club has pledged a new proposal that will allow us to examine thoroughly long-term solutions surrounding fan affordability and access. The club has now confirmed a 3% inflation-based rise for general admission next season, followed by a freeze on prices for season 2027/28. These two seasons run in tandem with the current TV Broadcast cycle [...]

Heartbeat of the Club

Message sent loud and clear We would like to thank everyone who made Saturday’s protest at Anfield such a huge success. To have 80%, if not more, of those in the ground come together to make a statement is something rarely seen in football anywhere in the world. It was a message sent loud and clear from Anfield to Boston and beyond. From the foodbank volunteers to those who gave out cards on the day, to every single supporter who raised one on the 13th minute, we say: thank you. No supporter wants to be [...]
