Help Is Here Update Spirit of Shankly’s Help is Here campaign began shortly after the country went into lockdown five months ago as Covid-19 took hold. Over the past 20 weeks, we have provided more than 2,000 bags of food to the most vulnerable members of our community, and those working and risking their own health in the NHS and care homes. Help Is Here Video Update Spirit of Shankly’s Help is Here campaign was started as a response to the difficulties faced by the most vulnerable during Covid-19. Response to Mayor Anderson Spirit of Shankly are angered by comments made by Liverpool City Mayor, Joe Anderson. The Mayor has chosen to speak out on a hypothetical matter, namechecking Liverpool FC supporters without discussion with those fans or fan groups. There is no evidence to support the Mayor’s perception that Liverpool supporters will break any lockdown regulations and gather outside of Anfield should football be resumed and played behind closed doors. Solidarity with Montevideo A few weeks ago, at the beginning of March, a group of Spirit of Shankly met with supporters of Uruguay’s @LiverpoolFC1915, based in Montevideo, who were visiting the city. Mental Health Research At the Spirit of Shankly 2019 AGM a motion was passed that we would help where possible with mental health initiatives. We agreed to work with local organisations and other supporters’ trusts to promote mental health awareness; to demonstrate that it’s okay to not be okay; and to support people to open up about their thoughts, feelings and emotions.
