Early Day Motion

We have again written to all 14 northwest MPs, this time asking that they sign and support the Early Day Motion proposed by Ian Lavery MP.

Dear …

Ian Lavery MP has tabled an Early Day Motion (EDM) in response to the rising cost of football tickets and clubs exploiting supporter loyalty.

Nineteen out of 20 top-flight clubs raised ticket prices this past summer, with some abolishing or reducing concessionary tickets, both penalising loyal senior fans and pricing out young fans who are the future of the game.

There’s a general sense among supporters that clubs do not value loyalty – unless it comes with high prices and an expensive visit to the club shop.

These frustrations are echoed in Lavery’s motion.

I ask that you sign and support this EDM and stand up for the protection of our football clubs and the role they play in our communities.

Yours sincerely, on behalf of Spirit of Shankly,

Paul Khan, Chair
