World Suicide Prevention Day, Sunday 10 September 2017
Spirit of Shankly are proud to support NO MORE Suicide – a strategy for Cheshire and Merseyside to raise awareness of World Suicide Prevention Day.
NO MORE Suicide encourages people to reach out to those who might need help. Part of the campaign is the NO MORE Suicide Thunderclap created by Champs (Cheshire and Merseyside Public Health Collaborative) that launches on 10 September, World Suicide Prevention Day.
The aim of the Thunderclap is to get the message out to a mass audience – flash mob-style. By sharing the same post at the same time, it amplifies it, allowing it to rise above the noise of social networks. Each year more than 800,000 people die of suicide and 25 times as many attempt suicide. Look around you at work, at the match, when you’re out – you never know who is suffering – the more people we can reach, the more we can help.
How you can help
Individuals and organisations who agree to support the campaign give their consent for Thunderclap to tweet / post the following message from their social-media platform at the same time on the same day as everyone supporting the campaign.
Message: Take a minute: Check in with someone who may be struggling #takeaminutechangealife #nomoresuicide #WSPD
Thank you.
