Liverpool Supporters’ Board – Ticketing Survey Results

SUPPORTERS were recently invited to take part in a survey to share their views on potential ticketing changes being considered by the club.

The Supporters’ Board worked closely with LFC to shape the questions and ensure the survey reached all fans with a ticketing history.

The areas under review include:

  • Improving the Members’ Sale process to make it quicker and smoother
  • Reviewing the Friends & Family system – including the possibility of capping list sizes, but allowing updates throughout the season
  • Exploring new ways of distributing tickets to enhance security and fairness
  • Looking at how tickets are passed on or shared, to reduce misuse and make things more transparent

The responses have now been collated and reviewed by both the Supporters’ Board and the club. You can view the results below, alongside a summary.

We want to thank the club staff who supported the process – and, most importantly, the thousands of supporters who took the time to have their say.

Your feedback has been vital. It reflects much of our own position: we understand what the club is trying to address in terms of ticket misuse and improving access, but we’ve been clear that any changes must not make things harder for ordinary fans who use their tickets properly, as they have done for years.

We’ve used your responses to communicate that back to the club.

Final announcements on any changes are expected shortly – and we’ll continue to represent your voice throughout.

Results Summary

Introduction

  • In May 2024 a survey was sent by Liverpool FC on behalf of the Supporters’ Board to help understand the views of supporters on a range of ticketing related topics as part of the ongoing comprehensive review of ticketing for men’s first team fixtures which the Club is currently undertaking.
  • The survey was sent to over 500,000 supporters who have used a match ticket in recent seasons. This included season ticket holders, members, past members, other home match going supporters who are not members or season ticket holders as well as hospitality members and guests. We also published a link to the survey on the LFC website (here) to ensure all supporters who wanted to share feedback with us could.
  • The survey ran from 3pm on Friday 9th May until the end of the 13th of May 2025.
  • We had 27,905 responses from supporters – 3,980 season ticket holders, 14,745 members and 7,240 other match going supporters, and 1,940 responses to the survey on the LFC website.
  • The profile of respondents for this survey is representative of location and ticketing status of general admission season ticket holders, members and other match going supporters. We also upweighted responses from younger supporters to ensure that the results were reflective of the age of the LFC matchgoing fanbase.

Friends & Family

  • Usage of Friends and Family is highest amongst season ticket holders with 89% saying that they have forwarded a ticket using Friends and Family. This is slightly higher at 91% for season ticket holders from outside of Liverpool.
  • 35% of Members say that they have forwarded a ticket using Friends and Family, rising to 56% amongst members with 4 to 12 credits, and 77% for members with 13+ credits.
  • Most season ticket holders say they have between 1-9 or 10-19 supporters on their Friends & Family list, with a smaller number having 20-29 on their list. Few season ticket holders have none, or more than 30 supporters on their list.
  • Most Members also say they have between 1-9 or 10-19 supporters on their Friends & Family list.
  • Support for a limit on the number of supporters that you can add to the Friends & Family list is higher amongst Members (40% say they would support, and 34% depending on the limit) than season ticket holders (17% support, and 45% depending on the limit). 30% of other match-going supporters said they would support a limit, with 32% saying it would depend on what the limit is.

Forwarding

  • When asked “would you support a limit of one forward per ticket instead of three per ticket”, over half of season ticket holders said they would support this, and just over a third of season ticket holders said they would be against this change.
  • 64% of Official Members said they would support a limit on how many times a ticket could be forwarded; this is also consistent across credit brackets. Around 22% of members would be against this.
  • Over half of other match going supporters said they would support a limit on how many times a ticket could be forwarded, with 28% saying would be against this.
  • When asked “would you support the Club introducing a system for supporters to return a forwarded ticket to the original ticket holder”, 69% of season ticket holders are supportive of this move, and 73% of Members and 73% of other match-going supporters are supportive.

Distribution for 13+ Members

  • 60% of season ticket holders are supportive of members with 13+ credits having the ability to distribute their ticket for up to two Premier League matches per season while retaining the credit for that match.
  • 58% of all Members are supportive, with 93% of Members with 13+ credits supportive. 63% of other match-going supporters are supportive
  • 42% of season ticket holders feel that there should be no change for members with 13+ credits, with just under a third saying that members with 13+ credits should have to use forwarding to Family & Friends rather than distribution.
  • A third of members feel that 13+ members should be able to distribute but the credit should go to the supporter who attends the game. 64% of 13+ members feel that there should be no changes, while just over a quarter agree that they should use forwarding and keep the credit.

Distribution for Priority Rights Holders

  • 46% of season ticket holders, 51% of Members, and 62% of other matchgoing supporters are supportive of priority rights holders having the ability to distribute their tickets to other supporters.
  • The most popular change for priority rights holders amongst season ticket holders would be switching from using distribution to using forwarding to Friends & Family.
  • 40% of Official Members are supportive of allowing priority rights holders to continue to distribute with a limit on how many times this can be done, while 35% support them using forwarding to Friends & Family over distribution. A quarter of members feel there should be no change, this is slightly higher for 13+ members at 33%.

The Purchase Journey

  • Members are most likely to buy tickets for other supporters reflecting the way they access tickets during the season for home league and cup games, with 60% doing so rising to 81% amongst members with 13+ credits.
