Turnstile access update
The Liverpool Supporters' Union were pleased to see that the significant problems experienced at the turnstiles at the Stoke and Notts County games were reduced at the Manchester United game following the Union's contact with the Club to raise the issue and our subsequent release on the problems that are occurring.
Turnstile Access Problems
Following the problems experienced by supporters at the turnstiles at the home games against Stoke City and Notts County, Spirit of Shankly is concerned that a number of important issues remain unresolved.
Anfield – An Asset of Community Value
Anfield, as a stadium and what it represents, is incredibly important to both Liverpool supporters and the local community. It matters to so many people - be it those who attend football matches, those who work there or those who live within close proximity. This week, the Liverpool Supporters’ Union have submitted an application to Liverpool City Council to have Anfield, and the immediate area surrounding the football stadium, designated as an asset of community value.
Premier League Money for Away Fan Initiatives
The Liverpool Supporters' Union has been advised that a pot of money, around £4 million, sourced from PL revenues has been made available to split between all Premier League Clubs. This means that each Club has received around £200,000 with the proviso that this money is spent on initiatives to improve the experience for away fans.
Football Supporters – Not the Khmer Rouge
A document that Spirit of Shankly has been aware of for some time has surfaced on the internet, making several references to us as an organisation, members of our Management Committee and members of the Union.
Open Letter to Ian Ayre
Following the meeting between Spirit of Shankly and Liverpool Football Club in March, the Union has sent an open letter to Ian Ayre.
Response from LFC Supporters’ Committee
Following our recent statement and minutes from the meeting with LFC about the recently announced ticket prices, we asked questions of the Supporters' Committee and their involvement in the process.

Following last week’s announcement by LFC about the new tiered pricing structure for season tickets and individual match tickets, supporters have been openly discussing the changes, what it means to them, and for many how much more they are going to have to pay.
Liverpool Supporters’ Union statement on LFC’s new six-tier ticket structure for 2013/2014
Last Friday Liverpool FC announced increases of up to 9% in season ticket prices for the Main Stand, Paddock, Centenary Stand and Anfield Road Stand.
Ticketing Campaign – proposal and vote

Amendments to the Union constitution – proposal and vote
At the EGM held on Saturday 19th January 2013, the Management Committee of the Liverpool Supporters' Union (LSU) presented a number of amendments to the Union constitution for the consideration of members. In line with previous practice, approval for these amendments is being sought by means of an online ballot of members. Active members can vote by logging into their Union account. Voting closes 23:59 Monday 18 February 2013.
Football Without Fans Is Nothing – The campaign starts now
At this week’s away matches, against Arsenal and Manchester City, the Liverpool Supporters' Union, will start a campaign highlighting the increasing cost of ticket prices for away supporters and proposing a £25 flat rate for all supporters at away games.
SOS Five Years: A note from Karen Gill
Ahead our of five year anniversary event last weekend our patron Karen Gill sent the following note.
Football without fans is nothing
At a time of increasing commercialisation, it’s important to remember what made the game of football the sport it is today. Footballers, managers and the supporters. Or the ‘Holy Trinity’ as Bill Shankly liked to call it.
Ticket Prices at Away Games – Update
Following the resolution at our last EGM, the Liverpool Supporters' Union has been working on its plan to campaign for a flat rate of a £25 away ticket price for all supporters at Premier League matches. Away ticket prices have hit the national headlines in recent days, due to the £62 cost of a ticket for the forthcoming Liverpool FC fixture against Arsenal. In comparison, Stoke City supporters are being charged just £32 for their equivalent fixture against Arsenal. What is clear, is that supporters of all clubs are being ripped off. Categorising football matches, however, means that some are being ripped off more than others.
